The 2025 TBR Cart

All my life, I’ve been surrounded by books. I was very lucky growing up to have both parents as well as my great aunt and uncle who encouraged myself and my brothers to read as much as our hearts desired. A trip to the library or bookstore was a genuine treat.

Fast forward to adulthood, and I have amassed quite the collection of books in my own home. There is something comforting about being surrounded by the stories I love the most. Or, in the case of my overloaded TBR cart, stories I want to love.

One of my goals for this year was to read the books I already own and not purchase more (except for the 2-3 books I had pre-ordered that are being released in the spring, but I did those orders in fall of 2024). To be honest, the books on the TBR cart aren’t even ALL of the unread books I have, just the ones I grabbed that I would like to read.

In keeping with one of my goals for this year which is to just in general spend less, I’m really going to try to stick to reading either books I already own or utilize my public library for books I don’t already have that I want to read. And if I do want to buy a book, I will either purchase from a local bookstore (VERY excited that there is a new locally owned bookstore in West Allis) or from Barnes and Noble, which I know is a big company but they’re one of the last bastions between us and Amazon having the monopoly on book selling.

Going forward here on the blog, if I share a book review the only Amazon link I will share is for the kindle version of the book, otherwise I’ll try to find links to either Barnes and Noble or from Bookshop.Org, which helps support local independent bookstores AND you get 3% cash back with Rakuten on there!

How do you decide what to read? Are you a mood reader or are you able to make a TBR list and stick to it? Let me know in the comments below!

Some links are affiliate links which means I earn a small commission if you choose to use them. I appreciate your support in helping keep this blog free of ads and banners. Thank you!
